Leslie & Bill Stahelin’s Why

Leslie & Bill Stahelin’s Why

We often talk about things that drive us, motivate us, our passion, our WHY. Over the next few months we will introduce you to members of our Board of Directors, a diverse group of men and women from all walks of life. Our wish is to give you a chance to learn more about them and ask, WHY Ronald McDonald House Charities?

Leslie & Bill Stahelin both share a spot on our Board of Directors. Leslie has been an active volunteer and advocate throughout her entire life, Bill has been in the automotive business much of his. Why do they have a passion for Ronald McDonald House Charities?

Our youngest son was born 5 weeks early and remained in the hospital for the first 7 days of his life. During that week, Bill and I were limited to three, 30-minute visits each day, we drove 50 miles back and forth for each stay.  At 10 months, our son had surgery, Bill began a new job in a different city and I was alone to care for our baby during his recovery. Thankfully my mom was with our 4-year-old during this challenging time. We are so thankful, our families’ outcome was wonderful! It was through this experience that we came to realize there are so many parents facing difficult and much scarier situations. What a gift Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado’s staff and volunteers are for families facing traumatic situations.
